Be A Student Of The Word
Malachi 2:7; 2 Timothy 4:13
“For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.” Malachi 2:7
Our opening Scripture tells us that the knowledge of God’s Word should be found in the mouth of a priest. In the Old Testament, the priests were to familiarise themselves with the law so that they would be able to teach the people. This also applies to everyone who is in Christ Jesus because “Jesus…hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Revelations 1:5-6). Every believer in the New Testament is a priest. Jesus has made us all priests unto God the Father. Now that we are priests unto God, we should be filled with the knowledge of God’s Word so much that the unlearned can receive knowledge from us. However, this can only be possible when we give ourselves to the learning of Christ. There is such a thing as the learning of Christ. Paul mentioned it in Ephesians 4:20. Part of the learning of Christ is being a student of the Word.
As a New Testament priest, you must give yourself to the study of the Word to increase in your knowledge and understanding of the Word. The laying on of hands does not impart the knowledge of God’s Word; it is received through learning. Beloved, give yourself to the study of God’s Word. It is a shameful thing to be without the knowledge of God’s Word. The Word declares that it is not good for a soul to be without the knowledge of God’s Word (Proverbs 19:2). Be a diligent student of God’s Word. Follow up on every new word or revelation you receive from God’s Word. Don’t be a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the Word. Be like the Berean Christians who studied the Word of God after Bible study in church. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16).
