COOPERATE WITH GOD (II)
READ: James 4:1-10
MEMORISE: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts you double minded (James 4:8).
EXPOSITION:
It is God’s desire that His people walk closely with Him in faith, truth, spirit and sincerity. How is this possible with you? Many believers find it difficult to walk closely with God. They can do all other things, but to cooperate with God, is a rarity: In our text today, James exhorts believers to submit to Christ’s Lordship. He advises that they draw near to God and resist the devil. Cooperation with God requires some things:
1. Shunning evil desire and lust (vv: 1-2)
2. Asking according to and submitting to God’s will (v.3).
3. Readily befriending God and unfriending the world (v.4)
4. Humility (vv. 5-7). There is disgrace in the way of pride, but honour will attend your way when you submit to the will of the Almighty God, and cooperate with Him.
5. Drawing near to God by which one can attract His presence as one seeks Him and do His bidding
Just as God told Abram to walk before Him and be perfect, He is telling you right now to jettison the devil and his works and move closer to Him. God’s covenant and promises will come to pass in your life, if you walk and cooperate with Him. Are you ready?

1. I receive the grace to shun evil and put on the garb of Christ’s humility and righteousness, in Jesus’ name.
2. Oh Lord Jesus, make me Your friend and an enemy to the world.
3. Lord Jesus, draw Your people nearer and closer to You.
