GOD’S VISITATION: WHAT TIME?

MEMORISE: And they heard the sound of the Loan God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among trees of the garden (Genesis 5:8).
READ: Genesis 18:1-15

EXPOSITION:
The subject of time, season and timing is such a vast one in the passages of the Bible. It matters to God, because, though God cannot be gagged by time. He has chosen to work in time, despite that He created time. Indeed, He is a God of time and timeliness. Now to the concept of God’s visitation, within the context of time

During the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, the disciples asked what time the kingdom would be restored to Israel. Jesus answered: *It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority* (Acts 1:7). The timing of God’s visitation is God’s prerogative. It is *the Father* that sets it *in His own authority* (cf. Psa 115: 5). Can a man tell when exactly God will visit him-morning, afternoon or night? There is an adage that translates, “He who knows the day of business breakthrough knows the day of death”. This implies that every business person keeps casting their bread upon the waters (Eccl. 11. 1), not knowing *which will prosper* (V6). Why? *…you do not know the works of God who makes everything* (v.5).

No man knows the hour of his/her divine visitation. In Eden, then, God visited Adam and Eve in *the cool of the day*–morning (Gen. 3:8), but for father Abraham, it was in *the heat of the day*–hot afternoon (18:1). Who is it who can fully understand God’s ways (Isa 55:8f)? No one, of course! He can visit anyone anytime He chooses, whether in the cool or hot; that is His unchallengeable sovereignty. All He needs is your discernment and readiness for Him. Are you ready for His visitation?
