The Blessing of Priesthood
Genesis 14:17-20; Hebrews 7:5-7
Hebrews 7:7 “And without all contradiction, the less is blessed of the better.”
Our opening verse reveals that the less is blessed of the better, which means that the lesser is blessed of the greater. This verse of Scripture is used regarding Abraham and Melchizedek. It reveals how that Melchizedek, the priest of the Most High, blessed Abraham.
In context, Abraham was the lesser and Melchizedek was the greater. This is the order of blessing. The lesser is always blessed of the greater; and this order of blessing is of priesthood. The blessing of God is channelled unto people through priesthood. Priesthood is the conduit of blessing. When God was to bless Abraham, how did He bless him? Melchizedek appeared to him and blessed him. Under the Aaronic priesthood, God could not bless the children of Israel without the priest(s). Likewise, God cannot bless anybody in the world today without the body of Christ, God’s royal priesthood; a kingdom of priests.
Before Abraham met Melchizedek, all that he had were promises but when he met Melchizedek, there was a switch. Melchizedek was greater than Abraham and God blessed Abraham through Melchizedek because the less is blessed of the greater (Hebrews 7:7).
Though Melchizedek was a king, when he came to Abraham, he didn’t come to show his kingship, rather he showed him his priesthood and Abraham responded by giving him the tithes of all. God is very official; He has protocols and follows them strictly. If He will do anything in this realm, He will do it through His embassy of ambassadors or kingdom of priests. Therefore, as a priest of the Most High God in Christ, you are blessed to be a blessing; and you are blessed to confer blessings on others. It is your responsibility to bless and better the lot of others. See yourself as a priest that you are in Christ. Bless and not curse.
You don’t spread the curse. You only spread the blessing. Bless your children; bless your family! Bless your spouse; bless your loved ones. Bless your company where you work; bless your employer or employees in the Name of the Lord. Spread the blessing everywhere you find yourself. You carry the blessing! Be aware of it! You are a priest; you are not ordinary. You are blessed and are a blessing; and you have been empowered to bless your world. Hallelujah!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION): In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I spread the blessing abroad! I walk in the light of the blessing of the Lord that I carry. Therefore, I bless and I do not curse. Whosoever I bless in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ is blessed indeed!
