Vengeance is Mine by Pastor W.F Kumuyi

TEXT: ROMANS 12:17-21

MEMORY VERSE: “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord” (ROMANS 12:19). "I am glad that though someone did me grossly wrong, my final mark on this world is not one of repaying hurt with more hurt, but is one of love and friendship. We will always be known by our actions. Let them always be good ones," wrote Sherrilyn Kenyon (The Dream Hunter). Many professing "believers" today boast of their ability to deploy the power of prayer and fasting to deal with enemies. Such people have neither met the Saviour nor tasted of the transforming power of Calvary. Relationship with Christ makes us new creatures. Apostle Paul says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old, unconverted nature of man enjoys retaliation, bitterness, malice, and hatred. The new creature loves Christ; loves others and prays for offenders. Jesus prayed for his crucifiers; Stephen prayed for those that stoned him while dying and Joseph forgave his brethren who sold him into slavery. The grace to forgive offenders dwells in true children of God.

QUOTE: The new creature…loves others.

CHALLENGE: Jesus prayed for those that crucified Him.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to forgive offenders like You did.
