TORMENTS OF FEAR
BIBLE TEXT: 2 Timothy 1:1-8
MEMORY VERSE: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” (1John 4:18).
Fear brings doubt and anxiety to the heart of man. We live in a world of uncertainty and risk which cannot be predicted perfectly by man, even with his knowledge and technology. Many youths are plagued by anxiety disorder, depression and other emotion related challenges. A true child of God simply leans on the Rock of Ages and receives his or her daily strength to cope with life’s battles. Fear is a sin and an indication that God is not honoured in our lives. God can turn all your negative circumstances to items of testimonies if you trust and obey Him. God is love and perfect in showing this attribute to as many as have faith in Him.
Whenever the devil tries to pump fear into your heart, remember to knock him down by faith in God and His promises. Fear can come from what people say about you or from your own mind as Max Beckmann states here, “What are you? What am I? Those are the questions that constantly persecute and torment me and perhaps also play some part in my art.”
QUOTE: Fear is sin.
CHALLENGE: Be strong in the Lord.
PRAYER: Lord, Increase my faith.
