Give Attention to the Word
Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.”.”
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You; because he trusts in You.
Matthew 4:4 tells us “But he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” The man in Christ lives by the Word. Our life was sourced by the Word and sustained by the Word. 1 Peter 1:23 tells us that we are saved, born again by the incorruptible seed of the Word of God, which lives and abides forever. The life of the man in Christ is all about the Word of God. Therefore, it is needful to give heed to the Word. The Word is our life in Christ. Our opening verse tells us to give attention to the Word of God, to incline our ears to His sayings, and never let them depart from our eyes, but keep them in the midst of our hearts; for they are life to us when we find them, and health to all our flesh.
Beloved, it is important you give attention to the Word because you will become what you focus on. Your attention rules your life; your focus shapes you. Proverbs 23:7 tells us, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” This is the reason why the Lord admonishes us to give attention to the Word. When we set our gaze on God’s Word, we are transformed into the image of the Word. 2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” Did you see how we are changed into the image of what we behold continually? The Word tells us that as we behold the glory of God, we are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is amplified and engaged in our lives as we make the Word our focus, as we continually meditate on the Word, beholding the Lord’s glory. This is one of the numerous blessings of giving attention to the Word of God. Understand that the Word of God is what you live by and live for; therefore, maintain your focus on the Word, no matter what is happening around you. Stay your gaze on the Word and your face will be lightened, and you will not be ashamed or disappointed. Hallelujah!
