Zechariah 12:101 “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for his firstborn.” The Leverage
Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
The Spirit of grace and supplications is the dimension of the Holy Spirit which brings God’s people into desire for God so much so that their understanding is enhanced beyond the natural frame of thinking. Our opening Scripture tells us of God’s plan of restoring His people to Himself in the last days. It says God will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications.
What then shall be the effect of this outpouring? It says they shall look upon Him whom they pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. This is awesome! Therefore, the Spirit of grace and of supplications is the spirit of revelation in the knowledge of God. Why? When they pierced Him, they did not know who they pierced, but by the outpouring of the spirit of grace and of supplications, they now know that it was the Lord that they crucified.
It dawned on them that they had done such a horrible thing to their own Lord, who is the Lord of the covenant of Abraham. This was what the apostle Paul was desiring for the Church at Ephesus (Ephesians 1:17-21); he wanted them to have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God. He wanted them to have a free operation of the spirit of grace and of supplication working in them; this is the spirit that brings to the true knowledge of God and of the things of God.
There are people who have head knowledge of God, which is mere information about God, but not a deep revelation of God within them; and they claim to know God. That’s not the knowledge of God. True knowledge of God gives life to the recipient of it. If the knowledge of God you claim to have is not transforming and lifting, it is not the knowledge of God. John 17:3 tells us “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Therefore, the knowledge of God is life eternal. The Spirit of grace and of supplications is the Revealer of truth to us; He is the Holy Spirit bringing us to terms with the realities of God, God’s eternal verities. Beloved, covet earnestly the operation and manifestation of the Spirit of grace and of supplications in your life. Do not leave knowing God to chance. Let your heart crave for the true revelation of God.
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that the Spirit of grace and of supplications is working in me to give light of who God is to me; and I walk in the light that He gives me without doubt in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
