Love: The Rule of the New Man in Christ
John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” The Leverage
1 John 3:23 And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
The Old Covenant was given to people sold under sin; it was the law of carnal commandments. Therefore, Israel, sold under sin, was meant to keep the Law; the Ten Commandments. It was their schoolmaster until Christ, who is the Seed of Abraham, for and unto whom the promises were made. However, God gave the man in Christ a New Commandment of love, not the Ten Commandments; for love is the fulfilling of the Law, and it works no ill towards his neighbour (Romans 13:10). The new man in Christ is not under the Law, but under Grace (the New Covenant); however, he does not break the Law in his walk because he walks in love, a higher governing principle.
The man in Christ is a new creature, has a new nature and has been born of God with a soft heart of flesh that is sensitive to God; not a heart of stone that they had under the Old Covenant (Ezekiel 36:26-27; 2 Corinthians 5:17); therefore, he doesn’t need the law of a carnal commandment, the Ten Commandments, written with ink on tablets of stone. He is alive to God and must be governed by a spiritual law of love; the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus; the spiritual principle of love by the Holy Spirit that gives or ministers life, not condemnation (Romans 8:1). There is no sinning in love; there is no stumbling in love, there is no offence in love. In love, we are sincere and without offence till the Day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-11). The Law or Principle that governs the man in Christ is love. We have been called to serve one another in love; we have been called to follow God as dear children by walking in love towards one another as the Lord has loved us, by giving Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice unto God. The Lordship of love is the dominion over the new man.
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I am a love being, and I am governed by the love of God, in thoughts, in speech and in conduct. The love of God is my Governor in Christ. Amen.
