Presentable Patriarch II by Pastor W.F Kumuyi
HIGHER EVERYDAY DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SUNDAY FEBRUARY 07, 2021
TOPIC: PRESENTABLE PATRIARCH – 2
TEXT: JUDGES 2:6-10
MEMORY VERSE: “And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel” (JUDGES 2:7).
Joshua the son of Nun, of the tribe of Ephraim, was one of the twelve elders in Israel sent to spy the land of Canaan. Like Caleb, he gave a good report about it. Joshua did not allow the unbelief of others to suffocate his faith in God.
Though others had the 'grasshopper' mentality, he and Caleb believed that with the help of God, Israel would conquer and possess the land of Canaan. Joshua later became Moses' successor. He was courageous, holy, prayerful and charismatic in his leadership style. As a devoted leader, he did not only influence his household to serve God, but inspired his generation and the elders that outlived them to serve the Lord (Joshua 2:7).
Hence, T. Ritchard Chase said: "If a leader demonstrates competency, genuine concern for others, and admirable character, people will follow." He led the Israelites across the Jordan, defeated and subdued six nations and thirty-one kings within the period of six years, and then divided the Promised Land among the twelve tribes. Are you wielding a godly influence over people around you?
QUOTE: Like Caleb, he gave a good report.
CHALLENGE: Joshua was a patriarch whose life remains a model.
PRAYER: Lord, give me Your Spirit of faith.
