DATE: Friday 29th January, 2021
THEME: How long shall I wait?
SCRIPTURE: “How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord ? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord , because he hath dealt bountifully with me.” Ps.13:1-2, 5-6 KJV
MESSAGE: Faith is of the heart. For faith to be productive in your life, your mind shouldn’t run in counter offensive against the faith in your heart. Asking God after praying “How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord ?” Is offensive attack against your faith.
All have fallen into this error, so, don’t condemn yourself if you asked God questions of doubts and unbelief. Prophets Jeremiah and Elijah and King David and many others have done so. Jesus, prayed that the cup should pass over him. So, you have company if you have. However, get out of your unbelief and stand again in faith fir God’s mercies with gratitude.
David after asking doubtful questions about whether God has abandoned him came back to faith by acknowledging His mercy. “I have trusted in thy mercy”. With faith in God’s mercy, the only option was to: “… sing unto the Lord , because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”
What do you believe God for? Trust in His mercies. Start singing songs of praise in gratitude. Alter your negative attitude with gratitude. See it as if it has happened. Talk to yourself as if it has manifested. Give thanks for it. Watch it happen. Soon, you will ask yourself why you ever worried in the first place.
PRAYERS: Father, I trust in your mercies. I am grateful because you have done it in Jesus name. Amen.
NUGGETS: The right attitude is gratitude.
