ACCUSED BUT ACQUITTED.
TEXT: “When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, woman, where are those accusers? hath no man condemned thee” (John 8: 10).
Our text is a story that gives us a beautiful illustration of how Jesus silenced the accusers, while graciously addressing a sinner in dire need of mercy. The story of the accused woman taken in the sin of adultery delivers a healing balm to anyone with a heart weighed down by guilt, condemnation and shame. Though Jesus did not excuse her sins, yet he commanded her to go and sin no more. He then presented the woman with a fresh opportunity to begin a new life.
Repentance is the only key to be acquitted and free for life. Jesus expects a change of heart and genuine repentance from every sinner. Jesus is the only one that can set every accused sinner free before the court of heaven. Are you an accused? Sincerely repent today and you will be acquitted for life because He took your place on the cross. Come unto Him now and He will have mercy on you (Isaiah 55: 6-7).
CHALLENGE: You too can be acquitted today.
PRAYER: Oh God, set me free in the name of Jesus.
