The heart is so important as the centre of human activity that the Bible confirmed that, “for out of it are the issues of life.” The heart is not only referring to the physical pump, arteries and veins which carry blood to and from all parts of the body. It is the centre of emotions and thoughts, both of evil and good. As we cannot live physically healthy without a healthy heart, so is it impossible to live a holy life without a purified heart. Our text warns, “Keep thy heart with all diligence…”
How is your heart today? What thoughts do you feed your heart with, good or evil? What of your feelings? Do you have love for God and other people or are you resentful and easily provoked? Do you harbour immoral thoughts in your heart? Remember that the Bible is the mirror that shows the condition of your heart. Read it daily, meditate on it, obey it, and pray always. In this way, you will keep your heart free from anxiety and pure for the Lord.
CHALLENGE: Never allow anything unholy in your heart.
PRAYER: Search me Lord and purge my heart of all evil.
