YOU WILL BE TEMPTED by Pastor W.F Kumuyi

Higher Everyday TEXT: And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread (Matthew 4:2, 3).

Temptation is an enticement to do evil. It comes from the devil. A classic example is that of the serpent tempting Eve in the Garden of Eden. Eve fell due to her own lust. Everyone faces temptations at one time or another; no one is immune. A little child or youth is as open to temptation just as an adult. The degree and frequency however, may vary from person to person.

A Christian minister is therefore as prone to temptation as the young convert, if not more. “Temptation does not cease when we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. Temptation does not lessen when we serve Him and give our lives to Him. When we try to let the principles of Jesus Christ rule in our business lives, Satan never relaxes his efforts,” says J. H. Linton.

The Christian youth must therefore be prepared and pray for grace to overcome temptations. As portrayed in our text, Jesus was tempted just as we are but He did not fall. Trust in God and you too will not fall in Jesus’ name.

CHALLENGE: Be prepared, temptations come unannounced
