TOPIC: DELAY IS DANGEROUS
BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 19:16-22
MEMORY VERSE: To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Nolbett Quayle narrated a sad story of a procrastinator. Colonel Rahl, the Hessian commander at Trenton, was playing cards when a courier brought a message stating that General George Washington was crossing the Delaware River. Rahl put the letter in his pocket and did not bother to read it until the game was finished. Then, realizing the seriousness of the situation, he hurriedly rallied his men to meet the coming attack, but his procrastination was his undoing. He and many of his men were killed, and the rest of the regiment were captured.
What a sad end! Many have lost vital chances in life for not doing things at the right time. It was a narrow escape for Lot and his family, though his wife still perished for looking back. To avoid regrets and painful experiences, we must learn from the mistakes of others. Beyond earthly gains, others have lost heavenly virtues, and Christian experiences because they delayed in seeking God. ‘A stitch in time saves nine,’ therefore pray today, to receive grace for help in this time of need.
CHALLENGE: Hobbies that rob you of opportunities in life, can also rob you of heaven.
QUOTE: A stitch in time saves nine!
PRAYER: Lord, make me wise to obey you promptly.
