Where is my future? By Adeyeni Janet
Though parents can try their best in securing a future for their children
Though teachers can try their best in teaching values
Though government can try their best in providing a quality education
Though friends can try their best in providing a friendly environment
Though counsellors can try their best in giving advice
Though siblings can try their best in showing how caring they are
Though extended family members can try their best in rendering help
Though elders can try their best in giving instructions
Though spiritual leaders can try their best in preaching truth
Though spouses can try their best in showing support
But still our future is solely in our hands. There’s a yoruba proverb that says we can only force horse to the river, we can’t force it to drink water.
What becomes of us tomorrow is as a result of our today’s decision, belief, confession and foresight.
