Let The Spirit Take You Over

Ephesians 5:18-19; Zechariah 4:6

Ephesians 5:18-19 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

God wants His Spirit to take you over. Our opening scripture reveals that it is God’s will for us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Your assignment here on earth is not a task you can carry out with human strength. Our Lord Jesus Christ did not commence His assignment here on earth until He was baptized and the Spirit of God descended upon Him. Scripture says in Luke 4:14-15, “And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all”. Jesus’ fame did not spread abroad because He knew how to rally people around Him and get people to fall in love with Him. No. It was not by human power or might or wisdom; it was by the anointing of the Holy Spirit.  Certain things will happen in your life, not because you know how to struggle or because you know how to run helter-skelter. Things will happen in your life, according to God’s plan for you, because the Spirit of God has taken you over.

The Spirit of God is the Spirit of grace (Hebrews 10:29). By Him, you can accomplish great things gracefully. God wants His children to operate by His grace. He does not want us to struggle, and that’s why the Bible charges us in Ephesians 5:18 to be filled with the Spirit. God wants you filled with His Spirit because that’s how He wants you to live, that’s how He designed for you to fulfill your God-given destiny. How can you let the Spirit of God take you over? By speaking to yourself in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19). In essence, you can be filled with the Spirit as you minister unto the Lord. Remember what happened in Acts 13:2, as they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost spoke to them, and they knew what to do. By the leading of the Holy Spirit, they knew it was time to send forth Saul (Paul) and Barnabas into the next phase of their destiny. When you are filled with the Spirit of God, it becomes easy for you to hear God and walk in His will. Beloved, do not hold back from speaking to yourself from God’s word, and ministering unto God in worship. As you do this, you will experience the sweet dimension of living by the leading of the Holy Spirit and your life will be beautiful and graceful.

Further Meditation: Mark 1:9-45; Joel 2:28-30

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION)
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I refuse to live a life of struggle. I will allow the Spirit of God to take me over and lead me into my destiny, as I minister unto the Lord in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. The results in my life will not be by human power or might, but by the Spirit of God. Amen.
