TOPIC: WHO IS YOUR FATHER?

MEMORISE

And He Who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him (John 8:29).

READ: John 14:1-10

[1].    “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

[2].     In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

[3].     And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

[4].     And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

[5].     Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

[6].    Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

[7].     “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

[8].     Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

[9].    Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

[10].   Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

EXPOSITION

Fatherhood is more than crucial in anybody’s life. Children enjoy good relationship with their fathers, despite being closer to their mothers, in most cases. It is often said that if you want to go further in life, you need a father. Father is the producer of a child, though the woman conceives it. He is the factor responsible for procreation. No wonder the ancient Pharaoh of Egypt tried to annihilate Israel’s race by ordering instant killing of every male child (Exod. 1:16)! _Our Father…_ in the Lord’s Prayer, presents God as the Father of all (Matt. 6:9-13), yet, to an individual, God should be “my Father”, suggesting personal intimacy. You should see God as your own personal Father. The relationship that exists between Jesus Christ and God the Father is what is expected of every Christian in relation to God. If a man fathers two children, they will have different relationships with him. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father should be highly intimate. Only those who know God personally as their Father can enjoy spectacular benefits that are additional apart from the general ones attributable to all and sundry. God is God of all the universe. He rules the affairs in heavens. Remember that only the few who draw closer to Him can call Him Father. There were 70 disciples, the 12, the 3, and the beloved. Making extra efforts to know more of God, will bring you closer to His grace and knowledge.

PRAYER POINTS

1.     Lord, please assist me to be in intimate and unbroken relationship with You, in Jesus’ name.

2.      Lord Jesus, help all believers to maintain a close walk with You to the end of their lives.

3.      Help us, Lord Jesus, to be members of Your inner caucus (core).

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY
CAC GHB: 780

1. O for a closer walk with God,
A calm and heav’nly frame,
A light to shine upon the road
That leads me to the lamb

2. Where is the blessedness I knew
When first I saw the Lord?
Where is the soul- refreshing view
Of Jesus and his word?

3. What peaceful hours I once enjoyed!
How sweet their mem’ry still!
But they have left an aching void
The world can never fill.

4. Return, O holy Dove! Return,
Sweet messenger of rest!
I hate the sins that made Thee mourn,
And drove Thee from my breast.

5. The dearest idol I have known,
Whate’er that idol be,
Help me to tear it from Thy throne
And worship only Thee.

6. So shall my walk be close with God,
Calm and serene my frame;
So purer light shall mark the road
That leads me to the lamb.

Amen
