TOPIC: WHO TOUCHED MY ROBE?
READ: Mark 5:21-32
MEMORISE
And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” (Mark 5:30).
EXPOSITION
This question sounded offensive to the disciples when Jesus asked them amidst the crowd that was pressing on Him. But Jesus knew instantly that something went out of Him as a result of that touch on His robe. Prior to this remarkable episode, Jesus was invited to minister to a dying damsel whose father was a prominent figure. Imagine the sirens and the several hired congressional aides that would be on an entourage to welcome Jesus and His cabinet members. What of the journalists and the crowd of fans that would throng at His emergence as the most recent and renowned Miracle Worker? Jesus Himself was focused on the current assignment at hand, avoiding all forms of distraction from passers-by and bystanders. Yet, He detected the transfer of virtue from Him regardless of the troop of persons all around Him and could figure her out instantly (Mk. 5:32).
This depicts the highest form of sensitivity to spiritual matters amidst the boom and bang of publicity. How sensitive are you in the midst of the hype and encomiums of men? You become so thrilled with the eulogy of mortals that the slightest virtue left you without you knowing. The woman came out frightened, trembling at the realisation of what had happened to her, fell at Jesus’ feet and told him what she had done (Mk. 5:33). What do you carry as a believer that people can touch? Are you just as empty as a used milk tin, and yet you brag about your brand and size? Do you carry something that can’t be tampered with? How sensitive are you to detect when an issue leaves you without permission?
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, help me to be sensitive and discerning in all situations.
2. I shall not lose guard over my life, family and endeavours, in Jesus’ name.
3. Pray for CAC Music Department, and other denominations as led by the Spirit of God.
4. Oh, Lord, in this year, 2024, let there be peace in Nigeria and all over the world. AMEN
