CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY
Colossians 1:27-28; Galatians 4:19
Colossians 1:27 “to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles which is Christ in you the hope of glory.”
Christ developed and formed in you is the hope of realising glory. The formation of Christ in a believer is Christian maturity. That’s why Apostle Paul laboured and travailed over the Galatian church so that Christ could be formed in them (Galatians 4:19). God’s desire for His children is that we become like Christ. Anything short of being like Christ implies that you still need to keep feeding and acting on God’s Word so that you can grow up to maturity. Beloved, you can start out as a baby Christian, but you must not stay at that level. There is a glory in you which God wants to showcase to the world, but this can only happen when Christ is formed in you. As believers, we must come up to that level where we measure up to Christ in stature, in character, in strength, in speech, and in deeds.
One of the things you need to do for Christ to be formed in you is to submit to the ministry of your pastor. Your pastor is sent as a shepherd to feed you with the required spiritual diet needed for your growth and maturity (Jeremiah 3:15), and God has put in our pastors that burden and desire to see us become like Christ. Our pastors are sent to teach us, raise us, until they can present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:28). The Word of God on the lips of your pastor is designed to build you up and give you your inheritance in Christ (Acts 20:32). If you want to see Christ formed in you to the end that the glory of the Gospel of Christ is showcased through you, then you must yield to the ministry of your Pastor. Hebrews 13:17 says, “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” As you submit to the ministry of your pastor, your life will become profitable and the glory of God will be seen in you and in all areas of your life.
Further Meditation: John 15:2-5; Ephesians 4:11-16
My Solid Front (Confession)
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gifts of shepherds after Your heart who are sent to feed me with knowledge and understanding. With meekness, I yield myself to the ministry of my pastors so that they can watch over my soul until I grow up to the fullness of Christ, who is my hope of realising glory in all spheres of my life. Amen
