ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THIS? (II)
Read: Luke 8:22-25
[22]Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
[23]But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
[24]And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
[25]And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
MEMORISE: But as they sailed, He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy (Luke 8:23).
EXPOSITION
Yesterday, God began to challenge us with respect to why we must not rush into the marriage institution, without relevant information that would help us on the journey. We need to patiently savour words of power from Christ in His Word, to be properly equipped to go through the journey, unhurt. The case of Priest Zacharias and his wife, Elizabeth, readily comes to mind here.
Despite their being upright Levites, they still had issues in marriage, but what became of them in the end? Success, joy and fulfilment! Why? They knew their God, in spite of their life’s challenges, and so, were able to stand strong and do exploits, positively (cf. Dan. 11:32). May that be your lot, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
For the about-to-weds, as you are entering your proposed marriage after the much-expected wedding festivities, the candid divine recommendation is that you don’t go into the marriage without Christ. It was Jesus who once told His disciples to cross over to the other side of the lake with Him, in a boat (Lk. 8:22ff). Did that stop the windstorm from arising, despite Jesus being on board? No, of course. But just imagine what would have happened, if He didn’t go with them-terrible disaster!
Don’t enter this marriage/home without JESUS. This has to do with your having accepted His lordship-salvation; your having His love in your heart to help navigate this marriage to eternity; and your having His Word in your heart to moderate your dealings in this lifelong contract, called marriage. Having said this, are you sure you are really ready for marriage? Where Christ isn’t, crisis is inevitable! Accept His lordship, NOW. You would be glad you did!

I come to Thee.
2. I need Thee every hour;

Temptations lose their pow’r
When Thou art nigh.

Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Pray for God’s grace to rightly apply His Word in your marriage/home.
2. Pray for the about-to-wed, that they would not go in there without the right information they need.
3. Pray that our churches and ministers would be more committed to giving members what they should know about marriage and godliness.
