TOPIC: WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER BACKSLIDE 2

MEMORISE
“But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.” Ezekiel 18:24

READ: Ezekiel 18:20-32

  1. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
  2. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
  3. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him; in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
  4. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD; and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
  5. But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned; in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
  6. Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
  7. When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
  8. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
  9. Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
  10. Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
  11. Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
  12. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
  13. For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD; wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

MESSAGE

Another reason I am determined never to backslide is that if I do, the record of everything I have ever done for God would be erased. The Bible says in Ezekiel 18:24: “But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.”
It does not matter how far you have gone in your Christian race, how many souls you have won for God or how many Churches you have planted; the moment you become a backslider, everything you have done before would not be mentioned. It means one fellow can serve God all his life and then backslide just one month before he dies and he would end up in hell. Don’t you want to make it to heaven, live in your glorious mansion and see the Lord Jesus Christ whom you have served for so long? Why would you let one little temptation deny you of that glorious experience and make you end up in the hands of the devil?

In case you are not aware, there will be many evangelists in hell; some church workers and even ministers will end up in hell. If you don’t believe me, read Matthew 7:21-23. I pray you will not be one of such, in Jesus’ name. What is the use of serving God so much here on earth and still ending up in the same place that unbelievers will end up in? You had better put aside every sin that draws you back in your Christian race and face God squarely.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1
What is that sin that is so alluring to you? Believe me honestly, it is not as valuable as your soul. Protect your soul and run away from sin.

KEY POINT
Nothing is worth losing your salvation over.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
2 Samuel 14 – 16

HYMN 20 – ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS!

  1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
    Marching as to war,
    Looking unto Jesus,
    Who is gone before;
    Christ, the Royal Master, Leads against the foe;
    Forward into battle,
    See His banners go.

CHORUS
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.

  1. At the name of Jesus Satan’s host doth flee;
    On then, Christian soldiers
    On to victory!
    Hell’s foundations quiver At the shout of praise:
    Brothers, lift your voices, Loud your anthem raise
  2. Like a mighty army Moves the Church of God:
    Brothers, we are treading Where the saints have trod.
    We are not divided,
    All one body we
    One in hope and doctrine, One in charity.
  3. Crowns and thrones may perish,
    Kingdom’s rise and wane;
    But the Church of Jesus Constant will remain:
    Gates of hell can never ‘Gainst that church prevail;
    We have Christ’s own promise
    And that cannot fail
  4. Onward then, ye people,
    Join our happy throng;
    Blend with ours your voices
    In the triumph song:
    Glory, praise and honour, Unto Christ the King,
    This, through countless ages,
    Men and angels sing.
