A LEADER’S SIN: A LEADING SIN
BIBLE TEXT: EXODUS 32:17-25
MEMORY VERSE: “And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?” (EXODUS 32:21).
When a leader sins, he is giving a negative example that can bring terrible consequences on those he leads. From our text, Aaron who was supposed to take charge and direct the affairs of the children of Israel while Moses was away, got himself drawn into the sin of idolatry by making a calf from their jewelries, and they worshipped it. Aaron, further gave a frivolous and foolish excuse to justify his sinful act by claiming that the people were determined to have their way in relation to having an idol as their god and that he had to give in to their demands. This led to the death of about 3,000 men of Israel (Exodus 32:21-28). Many years later, King Saul of Israel also yielded to the pressure of his soldiers to disobey God’s command (1 Samuel 15:13-23). He lost the kingdom for it.
Christian youths are to hold fast to God’s word when their faith is challenged by the devil and his agents. You should stand on God’s Word when people try to lure you into sinful practices.
QUOTE: Stand on God’s Word.
CHALLENGE: Stand for the truth always.
PRAYER: Lord, keep me through to the very end.
