FRIENDS, BEST FRIENDS!
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 19:1-7
MEMORY VERSE: “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (PROVERBS 18:24).
One dictionary says that a friend is “Somebody who trusts and is fond of another.” A friend should love, care, and be kind and compassionate always. According to John L. Mason, “Your true best friends are those who bring out the best in you. You are better, not worse, after you have been around them.”
The friendship between David and Jonathan was super (1 Samuel 19:1-7). However, there is undoubtedly no friend like Jesus. He is the great Friend who forgives sins (Luke 5:20); “Seeing their faith, He said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven you'”. He is the great sacrificial Friend, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
Invite Jesus into your life as your best friend. Jesus said, “You are my friends, if you do what I command you.” (John 15:14). Jesus is not only close to His friends, but loves and helps them always.
QUOTE: There is undoubtedly no friend like Jesus.
CHALLENGE: Rather be a friend of Jesus, than of Satan and the world.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, make me Your friend today.
