TOPIC: ALLOCATION FOR YOUR LOCATION
Read Genesis 22:1-14
MEMORISE: Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son (Genesis 22:13)
EXPOSITION
Alot of people want to enjoy God’s blessings while living away from Him, or trying to avoid obeying Him. They love His blessings but loath the sacrificess involved. Lots of people, Christians and non-Christians alike, love to sing “Abraham’s blessings are mine/2x…”, but how many are prepared to pay the price Abraham paid before getting there?
God told Abraham to take Isaac to Moriah 3-day journey. Why didn’t He ask him to do the sacrifice right at his backyard? Test! Abraham was to travel 3 days. Walking with God and enjoying His blessings require sacrifice on our parts. God was giving Abraham a test of commitment, though unannounced. Also, God wouldn’t coerce Abraham into sacrificing his son. He wanted him to take the decision.
On getting there, Abraham later discovered God’s provision that was already waiting there for him. The question is, ‘Had Abraham refused to go to Moriah, would he have known that God had made that wonderful provision for him?’ When God gives SPECIFIC directives FULL ADHERENCE is non-negotiable, when no SPECIFIC directives, are given, SENSITIVITY and Humility come to play.
To enjoy the best of economic and social life as we commemorate International volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development and World Soil Day today, you need to be rightly located in God. Abraham had to visit Moriah to discover God’s provision there. You would have to relocate to the place God wants you to enjoy His blessings. You know why? God is waiting for you where He wants you, and of course, He is waiting with loads of unprecedented blessings. You must cooperate with Him in Christ Jesus (salvation and sanctification) and by His Holy Spirit to know where He wants you, when and how (cf. Rom. 8:14).
PRAYER POINTS
- Lord Jesus, take charge of my life’s journey in its entirety.
- Holy Spirit, always lead me in the right path; I will follow You.
- Mention and pray for those missionaries you can remember, that God should help them to stay where He wants them, doing what He assigns them to do.
