LUST HAS CONSEQUENCES

BIBLE TEXT: JOB 31:1-6

MEMORY VERSE: “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” (JAMES 1:15).

A blind man does not see what is happening around him; and so he is not tempted by the alluring things of this world. True believers are like that – they are not moved by the sinful practices unbelieving youths engage in. In Bible language, they are dead to sin and cannot commit sin anymore, just the same way a dead man cannot respond to anything, no matter how much he is persuaded to do so.

Lust is a strong desire for that which is evil. Lust is usually invited to the heart through the eyes. The heart then begins to process and meditate on it. The flesh subsequently takes over; and if no drastic action is taken, the deed is done – the person tempted has fallen into sin. King David fell into immorality because he could not tame his eyes like Job. Youths should make sure that they keep their hearts from lust by staying away from polluting influences. God’s children should make covenant with their eyes like Job, not to lust after anyone. Evils abound everywhere, even on the social media platforms.

QUOTE: They are dead to sin.

CHALLENGE: Tame your eyes from evils.

PRAYER: Lord, purge my heart of dead works.
