GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT
TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 6:1-6
MEMORY VERSE: “But godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 TIMOTHY 6:6).
A woman needed a youth to oversee her growing business. She approached a pastor of a church for an unemployed person who could be employed and she got one from the church. After a few months, she discovered that the young employee was not only stealing the cash from sales, but also purchasing alcoholic drink for his consumption. He was sacked. Greed destroyed his privileges of greatness in a growing firm. Achan and his family perished for greed over gold and clothes. Gehazi became a leper for life because of greed and covetousness.
The above story is the lot of many unsaved youths in the churches today. They misuse privileges to serve. They want to get rich by dishonest gain, thus reproaching the name of the Lord. God demands faithfulness in all our dealings with Him and fellow men. Youths who engage in dishonest deals are not like Joseph who used his youthful energy to serve God with purity while being industrious. Whatever we gain here in the physical will be left here at death or rapture. Be content with whatever you have.
QUOTE: Be content with whatever you have.
CHALLENGE: Those who are hasty to be rich never make true gains.
PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from a godless and greedy lifestyle.
