THE WORTH OF THE WORD

BIBLE TEXT: PSALM 119:9-12

MEMORY VERSE: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (PSALM 119:11).

The Word of the Lord guides us in every sphere of life. The word must be revered and given the utmost recognition it deserves in our lives. Sir Walter Scott said: “Within the awful volume of the Holy Bible lies the mystery of mysteries. Happiest are the race to whom God has granted grace to read, to understand, to fear, to hope, to pray, to lift the latch, and force the way. Better had they never been born, who read to doubt, or to read to scorn.”

The Word is sacred and divine. Those who trivialize the Word today will pay dearly for their stubbornness and hardness of heart eternally. Some Christian youths tend to treat the Word of God with levity as they acquire more secular knowledge, especially in institutions of higher learning. This is a dangerous trend and wise youths should not fall into such devilish trap. The Word is a cleanser. The psalmist asks: “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word” (Psalm 119:9). Allow the Word of God to rule your life.

QUOTE: The Word must be revered.

CHALLENGE: The Word of God is God.

PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to honour Your Word.
