TOPIC: PETER’S PITFALL
TEXT: GALATIANS 2:9-14
MEMORY VERSE: “For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision” (GALATIANS 2:12). A chameleon is a small creature which has attracted a lot of attention from man. What makes it such an amazing creature? The reason is simple - it changes its colour based on the environment where it finds itself. Yes, its colour is unstable! Hence, it is often used to describe people who are not stable. Mark Cahill said, "The number one reason people don't share their faith is that their walk doesn't match their talk." Apostle Peter's behaviour was chameleonic as we can see in our text. Hypocrisy is not an acceptable trait in a believer. Hypocrisy can be tackled through salvation and sanctification. Self-confidence can make you slip into hypocrisy, but prayer and faith in God will help you to be watchful against hypocrisy. Robert E. Lee, an American Confederate general said, "I tremble for my country when I hear of confidence expressed in me. I know too well my weakness that our only hope is in God." Dependence on God and regular intake of His word can help you to stay on top spiritually and put away hypocrisy.
QUOTE: Put away hypocrisy.
CHALLENGE: Take in the word of God regularly to keep you strong.
PRAYER: Help me Father, so that I can overcome hypocrisy.
