TOPIC: NO JUNGLE JUSTICE

TEXT: ROMANS 14:10-13

MEMORY VERSE: “Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way” (ROMANS 14:13).

According to Wikipedia, jungle justice or mob justice is a form of public extra judicial killings...where an alleged criminal is humiliated, beaten or summarily executed by a crowd of vigilantes.

This implies that the suspect is not given fair hearing before judgment and punishment. Jesus saved the woman caught in the act of adultery from jungle justice (John 8:7-11). The Bible reveals that God is a righteous Judge and without respect of persons, He will judge all mankind. We are not to judge one another.

However, this does not mean that we condone misconducts of fellow pilgrims. Open rebuke is better than secret love. If a fellow Christian sins and you know it, to pretend that you do not know is wrong. What do you do? In meekness correct him, and redirect him to the Lord.

Be sure, however, you are not in the same sin you are correcting others. Never judge people on the basis of what others say about them; verify issues and give them opportunity to defend themselves before drawing conclusions.

QUOTE: We are not to judge one another.

CHALLENGE: Never judge any one on the basis of what others say about them.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to avoid a judgmental spirit among brethren.
