Timothy 2:15-19

Setting the right standards is one of the major things God expects right leadership to put in place. As a minister of the gospel, God expects you to set the right standards in your church. It may drive a number of people away but at the same time, it will draw the right men to you and your church. Weak people fight against right standards but better people embrace them. Truth produces better people and compromise produces weaker people. Don’t raise an assembly full of weak people because you are lowering standards for them.

The foundation of the Lord stands sure. God doesn’t change. Malachi 3:6, “I am the Lord I change not”. The standard of God is the truth and the truth is the word of God. Don’t change it. Don’t be a ‘favourite-scripture’ generation that only wants to hear what is sweet. We are in a generation where what judges what is right or wrong for many people, is not what God said but who has done it or who it has been done to, and that is dangerous. The implication of such a viewpoint is that as a person, if somebody you like does something bad, you would not see it as too bad but as just a mistake, but if it is somebody that you do not like that does the same thing, it becomes a sin. Sin is sin no matter who commits it.

Don’t be a believer that operates with double standards. God doesn’t change His stand. He always stands with the truth. John 8:31-32.

PRAYER: I will not trade the commitment of God for something ephemeral. Amen.
