Walk With the Wise by Pastor W.F Kumuyi

TEXT: 1 KINGS 12:8-16

MEMORY VERSE: “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed” (PROVERBS 13:20). Rehoboam had a great start in life, having inherited the throne of his father, King Solomon. All he needed was to heed the commandments of the LORD and avail himself of the wisdom of the elders, who worked with his father.

Unfortunately, Rehoboam despised these pillars that would have guaranteed his success on the throne. He would rather choose the counsel of his foolish and deceitful peers - and that was his undoing! Jim Rohn rightly said, "You become like the five people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully." People observed the lives of Peter and John and "took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus."

After spending forty days in the presence of God, Moses did not even realise that "the skin of his face shone", radiating the glory of God. If you have not made friends with Christ, the Wisdom of God, do so today by inviting Him into your heart. He will make you wise and you will equally begin to walk with His wise followers. You will be guided in life by wisdom.

QUOTE: Be guided in life by wisdom.

CHALLENGE: Associate with the wise and get wiser.

PRAYER: Help me, LORD, to walk in Your paths consistently.
