SALVATION OF A SOUL
TEXT: EPHESIANS 2:8-13
MEMORY VERSE: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (EPHESIANS 2:8, 9).
Charles H. Spurgeon said, “You will find all true theology summed up in these two short sentences: Salvation is all of the grace of God. Damnation is all of the will of man.”
Redemption from the eternal consequences of the fall of man at the Garden of Eden is entirely through faith in the finished work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Unfortunately, many so-called Christians still live in delusion, hoping to earn Heaven through self-righteousness, piety, charity, collectively described by the Bible as “filthy rags.” Some people even pray for the souls of the dead who were not saved before they died to ‘rest in peace.’ If this were possible, there would have been no need for Jesus to die on the Cross.
Trusting in self-righteousness would lead to certain damnation in hell; but exercising faith in Jesus guarantees eternal bliss in Heaven. The choice is yours. The salvation of a soul occurs at once when you repent and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour; it is not a gradual process. Once saved, your sinful lifestyle ends.
QUOTE: Once saved, your sinful lifestyle ends.
CHALLENGE: Your eternal destiny is your choice.
PRAYER: Father, help me to rely on Your grace alone.
