A Peculiar People by Pastor W.F Kumuyi

TEXT: 1 PETER 2:9-12

MEMORY VERSE: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light” (1 PETER 2:9).

D. L. Moody said, “See that ‘no man takes thy crown.’ Be willing to be one of Christ’s peculiar people, no matter what men may say to you.” In packaging his wicked plot to destroy the Jews, Haman told King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people…among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people…” (Esther 3:8). But, indeed, Haman’s description perfectly aligns with God’s purpose, who, in the Bible, portrays Christians as “…an holy nation, a peculiar people…”

All who repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Saviour, are spiritually translated into the Kingdom of God. From that moment, such people are enabled to embrace a new lifestyle that is peculiar, which is naturally impossible because such life can only be produced by the indwelling Spirit of God. They are peculiar in their object of worship, what they eat and drink, the friends they keep, and the places they visit. Invitation to join this distinguished class is open to all-comers through genuine salvation.

QUOTE: Peculiar in their object of worship.

CHALLENGE: Would you not rather join this peculiar class?

PRAYER: Lord, please help me stand out of the crowd.
