THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

Saturday, April 24, 2021.

TOPIC: YOUR WEAPONS AND WAR.

Read: Ephesians 6:10-18.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, c against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

MEMORISE:
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)

EXPOSITION
The world leaders premeditatedly condemn acquisition of nuclear weapons because they are weapons of mass destruction. However, some countries are still amassing these weapons. “For what or which war? Somebody would like to know? We are fighting, most of the times, self- created or self – inflicted wars which would have been unnecessary in the first place, if the right thing had been done!.

To Christian believers, war or battle is no strange word. He (Christian) understands that the day he enlists in God’s army through Salvation, that day, a war/battle is declared against him by Satan, sin, flesh and the world. Your understanding on this determines if you are going to be a winner or loser. It is to this end, that today’s devotion wants to get you acquainted (if you are not yet) with the weapons you need to overcome the battle Jesus is the Captain of the victorious Christian troop (Rom. 8:37) The non-negotiable victory had long been won on the cross of Calvary. You only need to activate and key into this triumph (1 Cor. 15:57)

Word weapons are for worldly wars. To fight Satan and the instruments he uses (sin, self and world), you need to be strongly armed to be teeth with helmet of salvation, shield of faith, loin guard, feet laden with goodness, sword of the spirit, breastplate of righteousness, prayer and supplication. These weapons are both defensive and offensive, and you should discern when to apply each.

You don’t have any battle with witches, sorcerers cultists or ritualists. Rather, you war is against their master and lord, Satan. Flesh must be brought under submission while sin no longer reigns over you. It is then you can say that you have become an overcomer. Stay at alert.

PRAYER POINTS:

  1. Lord, help me to fight in the right way.
  2. Help the believers, Oh God to know the battles of life that are theirs and the ones that do not concern them.
  3. Open our eyes and our understanding not to be busy fighting bad battles of the flesh.
