Isaiah 28:11-12, Matthew 11:28, Hebrews 4:8

When you over-strain your spirit, you need to renew and refresh it. If there is no possibility of over-straining of the spirit, the Bible will not say there are times and seasons of refreshing.

If God says this is the rest, that is, He is talking of the rest that He had promised the children of Israel before, that they knew; and He was now giving further instructions on that rest. In fact, it was like amplifying and shining light to show them that this is the rest. This is the rest that Adam had been living in before he fell; and that was what Jesus was enjoying and experiencing when He came. Everybody thinks of a time to rest and many people think the rest comes at death; no! That rest is not idleness either.

A state of rest is a state of quietness; a state of assurance. God is not calling you into problem or slavery, He is calling you into a rest.

Some of us think it is the rest of not working again, but no, that will be idleness. This rest, the Bible makes it clear, is the presence of the Holy Spirit. There is something in the heart of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They knew that the only way to bring man up to his original state and keep him from falling is if one of them will leave heaven and come to reside permanently on this earth.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Holy Ghost in me. I receive refreshing and rest now as I pray in the Holy Ghost.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 16:1-18:28, Luke 19:1-27, Psalm 87:1-7, Proverbs 13:11
