TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 4:1,2
MEMORY VERSE: “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God” (1 CORINTHIANS 4:1).
According to James Cash Penney, “Responsibilities are given to him whom trust rests. Responsibility is always a sign of trust.” God has entrusted us with the task of being His stewards in bringing souls to Christ and we are expected to do it with the utmost sense of responsibility and great sincerity. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave a parable of two faithful and one unfaithful servants. The faithful servants were given 5 and 2 talents respectively, and they both doubled their given talents in business and were generously rewarded by their master. The unfaithful servant on the other hand, rather than use his talent, buried it. Of course, his master was angry with him and punished him severely for his disloyalty.
In like manner, Christians have been saved to serve in the vineyard of God. We must not be found wanting in our devotion and service to God. No task is too big or small for God’s children. Our decision to follow the Master will be tried by Satan. But we are assured of victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
QUOTE: We must not be found wanting.
CHALLENGE: I am God’s battle axe and I will be loyal.
PRAYER: Lord God, make me a faithful steward in your vineyard.
