Resist the Devil and He will Flee!

1 John 4:4; 1 Peter 5:8.

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

It should thrill you again and again, knowing that the power of darkness has been broken over you. The power or authority of darkness to harm you has been broken. Jesus did that for you and this is your reality now in Christ (Colossians 1:13-14). The devil shouldn’t take sleep from you anymore; you must never allow it. Feed on the Word of God regarding your redemption in Christ and your confidence or faith will skyrocket. It’s in the Word that you will build confidence and see the real you in the true light of the mirror of the Word. It is also in the Word that you will see the true state of the devil, that he is under your feet, far below you, because you are seated in the heavenly places, far above all principalities and powers. The Bible shows us that angels are ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for us, the heirs of salvation, the children of God. Lucifer who was once an angel, is now the devil, a fallen angel.

In every sense of it, the child of God and the devil are not in the same league. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” The devil is not the lion, he is ‘like’ a roaring lion. We have only one Lion, and He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Greater One that lives in you. Listen beloved, you are more than a conqueror because of Jesus who love you and died for your sins.

You have what it takes as a child of God to speak, and devils will scamper because God is in you. The devil is in fear; he is certainly not in faith. Therefore, James 4:7 says “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” The word ‘flee’ means to run, jump, flee as though in terror. That is how demons respond when you come on the scene in the fullness of your identity and power in Christ. You are a child of the Most High God.

You have been bought back from the dominion of the devil; that’s your reality now. Your redemption is a reality in Christ now; you are not trying to make it up, for it is a done deal. God has shown us in His Word that redemption belongs to us in every respect. So, where is the fear of the devil? It’s gone forever. You are no longer afraid of him. Why? Because you know, just as you know your name, that you have been delivered from the power or authority of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son, Jesus Christ. Beloved, get this truth of God’s Word into your spirit and let it dwell therein richly. Take these words and feed on them, until you get to the point where you know the things that are not permitted to happen to you and in your life ever again. Now, go ahead and resist the devil with the Word in your mouth! Hallelujah!

MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION): In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I understand that I have authority over Satan; therefore, I declare that in the Name of the Lord Jesus, I walk in dominion over Satan and all his cohorts! Amen!

Further Meditation: Psalms 23:4; Colossians 1:12-14.
